The VAT Compliance and Advisory Manager takes care of EMEA indirect tax compliance and advisory to the business. Compliance include the active management of the VAT Compliance Team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic leader for the VAT function, beyond day-to-day compliance and advisory activities, with a clear vision for the role of VAT within the organization.
- Assess the current VAT team setup, processes, and service delivery model, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, and business impact.
- Primarily responsible for managing and providing support to the business's stakeholders.
- Managing relationship between the business and the various tax authorities with which it interacts.
- Monitoring legislative VAT developments and supporting the business in the preparation for the changes.
- Managing day-to-day work of the VAT team, overseeing and coordinating the indirect tax processes.
- VAT advisory focus, provide VAT advice to business, respond to day-to-day queries, VAT support to business projects.
- Continuous improvement in the VAT team agenda with main aim to simplify and harmonize the VAT compliance processes across all countries in scope.
- Analyzing and justifying VAT exemptions and reduce rates applied on our products, keeping VAT rulings up to date and preparing proper documentation on the findings.
- Liaising with external tax advisors on more complex issues and communicating back to business on practical impact.
- Managing internal and external audits for the entities in scope.
- Ensuring that VAT rulings are in place and not expired.
- Final approval of VAT documentation / Standard Operating Procedures.
- Team development with focus on VAT team lead and VAT Subject Matter Expert (SME), goals set up, provide feedback.

Job Requirements:
Experience:
- 7-10 experience, minimum 3 years in a multinational corporation or global advisory firm, Big 4 preferred.
- ERP (SAP and/or Oracle) and other VAT-related systems knowledge.
Skills/Knowledge:
- Strong VAT knowledge.
- Previous managerial skills.
- Practical knowledge of SAP and/or Oracle system.
- Strong attention to details.
- Effective time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Strong Excel knowledge.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible to deal with the workload and demands of the job.
- Good communication skills.
Other Competencies:
- Higher degree in business administration or equivalent finance specific degree, CPA/ACCA.
- Excellent technical and proven VAT compliance knowledge of multiple EU countries.
- Previous experience with VAT Consultancy.
- Experience in shared services centre or a multinational corporation desirable.
- Proven record of successful leadership experience.
- SAP and/ or Oracle knowledge.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Quantitative and analytical skills for problem solving and issue /risk mitigation.
- Ability to identify areas of improvement to work effectiveness and efficiency, and drive necessary action to completion.
- Demonstrate sound work ethics, respect and cultural sensitivity and awareness.
